Step 1 of 5

What is your website?

Your domain is enough.

SEO for HRT and menopause brands is search optimisation for platforms providing hormone replacement therapy and menopause care. The category is defined by extensive symptom-led search demand and by persistent public misunderstanding of hormone therapy risk following the 2002 Women's Health Initiative findings.

perimenopause symptoms151,00068$0.06
hormone replacement therapy56,00064$3.50
menopause treatment2,50059$1.90

The shape of this table is unusual and worth understanding.

"perimenopause symptoms" does 151,000 searches a month at a $0.06 CPC. Almost nobody is bidding on it, because advertisers correctly identify it as informational. But the searcher is a woman who suspects something is happening to her body and does not yet have a name for it, which is the earliest and most valuable point in this particular journey. She will choose a provider months later, and she will choose the one that explained it to her.

"hormone replacement therapy" at 56,000 searches and a $3.50 CPC is where commercial intent concentrates. "menopause treatment" at only 2,500 searches shows how few people search in the vocabulary the industry uses. Buyers search their symptoms, not your service category.

02

You are competing with a twenty year old headline

The 2002 Women's Health Initiative findings were widely reported as showing hormone therapy caused breast cancer, prescribing collapsed, and a generation of women were told to avoid HRT.

Subsequent reanalysis substantially revised that picture, particularly around timing of initiation, age at initiation, and the differences between hormone types and delivery routes. The nuance did not travel nearly as far as the original headline.

This is the central content challenge in the category. Your customer arrives having absorbed a risk narrative that is at best incomplete, often from her own mother or her GP. Content that ignores this and sells benefits fails, because it does not address the objection actually in her head. Content that addresses the WHI history directly, accurately, with sourcing, and explains what the current evidence supports, both converts better and ranks better, because it is genuinely more useful than anything else on the SERP.

This is also precisely the kind of content that requires physician review. Getting the risk picture wrong in either direction, overstating or understating, is a serious failure.

03

Bioidentical hormones: the terminology trap

"Bioidentical" is used to mean two different things and conflating them is a compliance problem.

FDA-approved products containing hormones structurally identical to endogenous ones exist and are regulated conventionally. Compounded bioidentical hormone therapy, often custom-formulated and marketed as safer or more natural, does not carry the same approval and the FDA has been explicit about the distinction.

Content that uses the term loosely, implying compounded preparations carry the evidence base of approved products, creates exposure. It also underperforms, because a searcher investigating the term is usually trying to understand exactly this distinction, and the page that explains it clearly is the one that earns the visit.

04

The category is genuinely underserved

Menopause has been under-researched, under-taught and under-marketed for decades, and the content landscape reflects that. Compared with hair loss or weight loss, where every query has been fought over for years, large parts of this category still have shallow coverage.

Symptom clusters beyond hot flashes are consistently underserved: sleep disruption, joint pain, cognitive changes, mood, genitourinary symptoms. Perimenopause specifically, as distinct from menopause, is under-covered relative to its search volume. Non-hormonal options for women who cannot or will not take HRT are frequently treated as a footnote.

Each of those gaps is a ranking opportunity that does not exist in more mature categories.

Here is what happens if nothing changes

  1. 01

The category is being discovered right now

Coverage gaps that exist today are closing as more platforms enter and publishers notice the volume.

  2. 02

Your customer decides months before she buys

The content that wins her in September had to exist in April.

  3. 03

    Misinformation compounds against you

Every month the WHI narrative goes uncorrected is a month of customers deciding against the category entirely.

  4. 04

    Paid never becomes an asset

It does not compound and it does not transfer at exit.

When I am asked if I know of anyone in the SEO space, without hesitation I point them to DTC SEO. They truly understand the power of authority content, onsite metrics, and strategic backlinking and has the network to put it into play.

What we deploy for HRT & menopause brands

  • AI Search and GEO

Getting cited inside ChatGPT, Perplexity and AI Overviews, and an honest account of what that is currently worth.

  • Doctor-Reviewed Content

Expert writers produce it. A licensed physician signs off on clinical accuracy before it goes live. In YMYL categories that step is not optional.

  • Digital PR

We connect your business to a credentialed expert and place their commentary in publications with real editorial standards. Their credibility becomes yours.

  • Link Building

Health publishers vet harder and charge more, which is why most agencies avoid the category and why links remain the largest ranking lever in it.

  • Technical SEO

Regulated catalogues accumulate structural problems general ecommerce sites never encounter. Most of the fix is consolidation rather than creation.

  • Programmatic SEO

Location and variant pages at scale, built as data rather than as templates, so they inform rather than duplicate.

HRT & Menopause SEO: what founders ask us

How should we handle the Women's Health Initiative findings in content?

Directly, accurately and with sourcing. Your customer usually arrives with an incomplete risk narrative from 2002. Content that addresses that history and explains what current evidence supports converts better and ranks better than content that sells benefits around the objection.

Can we use the term bioidentical hormones?

With precision. FDA-approved products containing structurally identical hormones are regulated conventionally. Compounded bioidentical preparations do not carry the same approval and the FDA has been explicit about the distinction. Using the term loosely creates exposure.

Why target perimenopause rather than menopause?

Volume and timing. "perimenopause symptoms" does 151,000 monthly searches against 2,500 for "menopause treatment". The perimenopausal searcher is earlier in her journey, has not yet chosen a provider, and is more receptive to the brand that explains what is happening to her.

Is menopause content still underserved?

Yes, relative to its search volume. Symptom clusters beyond hot flashes, perimenopause as distinct from menopause, and non-hormonal options for women who cannot take HRT all have shallower coverage than comparable demand in other health categories.

Does this content need physician review?

Absolutely. Hormone therapy risk is an area where being wrong in either direction, overstating or understating, is a serious failure. Every page we publish in this category is reviewed for clinical accuracy before it goes live.

What does HRT and menopause SEO cost?

Fully managed engagements start at $7,995 per month. The category rewards content depth heavily, and scope reflects the volume of clinically reviewed material required.
