COMPETITOR TEARDOWN

Keeps: the most valuable traffic in hair loss, and the least of it

A pure play hair loss brand ranking for 4,103 keywords against Hims' 92,558. High value per visit, almost no coverage, and a category sitting open in front of them.

Methodology: Ahrefs Site Explorer, keeps.com including subdomains. Ahrefs, organic keywords and site metrics, subdomains mode. United States. 1 August 2026. Figures are the Ahrefs export on that date and are not adjusted. CPC values are converted from the API's cents to dollars.

Start with your domain. We will separate the demand you can win from the demand the publishers already own.

Step 1 of 5

What is your website?

Your domain is enough.

Keeps draws 70,873 monthly organic visits in the US from 4,103 keywords, valued by Ahrefs at $359,657 a month. That is roughly $5.07 of traffic value per visit, the highest of the telehealth brands in this set, because almost everything they rank for is commercial hair loss demand. The problem is how little of the category they hold.

01

Small footprint, expensive traffic

Keeps is the counterexample to Nutrafol. Where Nutrafol has enormous traffic worth very little per visit, Keeps has modest traffic worth a great deal per visit.\n\nThe reason is focus. They sell one thing, they rank for terms about that one thing, and the paid market prices those clicks at $3 to $4. Nothing on their domain is there to pull in readers.

$359,657 of monthly traffic value from 70,873 visits works out at about $5.07 a visit. Hims, for comparison, generates $5.35M from 1,050,921 visits, which is about $5.09. The two are almost identical per visit, and Keeps gets there with 4% of the keyword coverage.\n\nThat is the whole argument for category focus in one comparison. It is also the reason their ceiling is so much lower.

02

They rank on the category and capture almost none of it

Non-branded keywords with commercial or transactional intent and a CPC above $2.50.

"hair loss treatment" carries 240,000 searches a month. Keeps sits at position 14 and takes 121 visits from it. "receding hairline" carries 42,000 at difficulty 4, they hold first position, and Ahrefs attributes zero traffic.\n\nDifficulty 4 on a 42,000 search term is an open door. Ranking first on it and receiving nothing means the SERP is answering the question in place, which is the recurring pattern across every teardown in this set: a first position on an informational medical query is not a traffic position.\n\nThe rows doing real work are the narrow ones. "hair regrowth for men" at position 6 brings 489 visits, more than the 240,000 search head term brings from position 14.

03

Where the flank is open

Keeps has proven the economics of the category and left most of it on the table.\n\n"topical finasteride" is the clearest example. 21,000 searches at difficulty 35 and a $3.82 CPC, and they are at position 17. Hims holds first place on that term and takes 4,457 visits from it. That single position is worth more than everything Keeps earns from the 240,000 search head term.\n\nThe second opening is coverage. 4,103 keywords is not a category footprint, it is a product catalogue with a blog attached. The treatment-specific, mechanism-specific and demographic-specific queries that make up the bulk of hair loss demand are almost entirely unaddressed.\n\nThe third is women. Keeps is built for male pattern baldness by name and by design, which leaves the consistently underserved women's hair loss demand to whoever writes it first.

When I am asked if I know of anyone in the SEO space, without hesitation I point them to DTC SEO. They truly understand the power of authority content, onsite metrics, and strategic backlinking and has the network to put it into play.

Keeps: what founders ask us

How much organic traffic does Keeps get?

70,873 monthly visits in the US from 4,103 ranking keywords, 1,622 of them in the top three. Ahrefs values that traffic at $359,657 a month, which is roughly $5.07 per visit.

Why is their traffic worth so much per visit?

Focus. They sell one thing and rank almost exclusively on commercial hair loss demand, where the paid market prices clicks at $3 to $4. There is no high volume reader content diluting the average.

How does Keeps compare to Hims?

Almost identical value per visit, around $5.07 against $5.09, but Keeps gets there with 4,103 keywords against Hims' 92,558. Focus gets them the quality; the lack of coverage caps the volume.

Where is Keeps weakest?

Treatment-specific demand. They sit at position 17 on "topical finasteride", a 21,000 search term at $3.82, where Hims holds first place and takes 4,457 visits. Women's hair loss is entirely open.

Where did these numbers come from?

A single Ahrefs Site Explorer export for keeps.com including subdomains, United States, taken on 1 August 2026. Nothing is adjusted, rounded or estimated.
